History
Geography
Oxbow Plantation is located at a confluence of the Aroostook River and Umcolcus Stream, approximately three miles west of ME-11, southwest of Masardis, Maine, along Oxbow Road, in southern Aroostook County.
When looking west along the road at the foot of the slope, Umcolcus Lake can be seen in the southwest corner of No. 8, Range 5. The lake flows northwesterly across the corner of Penobscot County and enters Oxbow Plantation, and flows into the Aroostook River. A half a mile to the east is the Aroostook River and the "oxbow, which is how Oxbow Plantation got its name.
To the north are the Machias Mountains and to the southwest is Mount Katahdin. The Mooseleuk Mountains are also located in this area.
